Text Messaging (SMS) Terms and Privacy:

Effective date: September 29, 2026

Tyler Willis Psychotherapy PLLC (doing business as Tyler Willis, LCSW) ("the practice," "I," "my") offers text messaging (SMS) as one way for clients to communicate with me about scheduling. This section explains how that works. It is separate from the Notice of Privacy Practices you receive as a client, which governs your protected health information under HIPAA.

Program description. Clients of the practice may text the practice phone number to ask about or arrange scheduling. I reply manually, one message at a time. I may also send a manual follow-up text if you miss a session. Texts are for scheduling and logistics only. I do not send marketing or promotional messages, and I do not send automated or bulk messages.

How you consent. During your first therapy session, before any text is sent, I ask whether you agree to receive text messages from Tyler Willis about scheduling. At that time I explain that message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, you can reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance, and consent is not a condition of receiving treatment. I note your answer in your record. If you text the practice number yourself, I reply only to your inquiry.

Consent is optional. You do not have to agree to text messaging to receive services. You may choose phone, email or the client portal instead.

Opting out. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving messages. You may also tell me directly or use the contact form on the homepage of this website. After you opt out, I will confirm once and send no further texts unless you contact me first.

Help. Reply HELP to any text, or use the contact form on the homepage of this website, for assistance.

Cost and frequency. Message frequency varies with your scheduling needs. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.

Carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Sharing of mobile information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

Keep texts non-clinical. Text messages are not a secure channel. Please do not send sensitive clinical or health details by text. Use them for scheduling only.

Not for emergencies. Texting is not monitored around the clock. If you are in crisis, call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.
